JOTA-JOTI enables young people and volunteers to participate in fun and engaging group activities over the Internet and amateur radio focused on developing 21st century skills through Scouting.
The dynamic programme features a variety of non-formal education activities, including webinars, global campfires, talent shows, live shows, and much more. World Scouting’s global partners are actively involved in the event, offering their expertise and fun activities to engage participants. Keeping young people Safe from Harm online is an important aspect of this event. Through chat moderation, “listening ears”, e-learning courses and a number of sessions about how to be safe online, we make sure that all participants have a positive and inclusive JOTA-JOTI experience.
JOTA-JOTI is one of World Scouting’s longest-running global events dating back more than 64 years to 1958. The digital educational event has seen steady annual growth in participation over the years and with a focus on the future aims to reach millions of more participants in the years to come.

Camp Theme: "Key to Survival"
For registered members of both Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada, the annual White Pine Council JOTA-JOTI camp is a fun weekend where youth and adults can enjoy the excitement of camping at Camp Samac, in Oshawa, Ontario.
This is a wonderful opportunity to start the camping year in a safe, secure location with experienced Scouters on site to support you and your Troop and Pack.
From the time you arrive on Friday afternoon, until you depart Sunday, there is always something to do – if you choose to do it.
Friday night activities start with Campfire Blanket Movie and BYOPopcorn…. under the stars.
Saturday brings an incredible variety of activities –
In past years we have made contact with stations as far away as South Africa, Australia, and the International Space Station! We have even connected with WOSM Headquarters in Geneva who also run a ham Station every year,
Saturday evening brings on the most excellent Dance Party, hosted by our professional DJ
Don’t be surprised if the Durham Regional Police Services Helicopter does a fly-by on Saturday night to see how we’re doing!
On Sunday we plan to close down the camp quietly (yeh, right!) with a tremendous patrol level Scout Challenge mystery activity that is basic to a Scout’s camping success. The skill may be basic, but how good are you when you’re racing against the clock?
It’s a great camp to get you going for a new scouting year. We hope you’ll come out and we know that, if you do, you and your youth will have a great time!
